Jeff, the bridge is my design, but thankfully after all this time, Mr. Kett's excellent execution. I used to do those by hand and it took FOREVER. Wade, the scale length came out of my dissatisfaction with 28.3" as my smaller baritone scale length. As you go up in scale length the string choices get tougher because you're crossing the threshold between string gauging and the difference between core size and wrap and how one gets to a particular gauge. At 28.3" I wasn't satisfied with the string behavior so I nudged the scale length up a bit. It really sings there. Don, the finish on this instrument is KTM-9 and yea, I can get it to look right but it's just not hard enough. So I'm experimenting with several options all of which are catalyzed. I found myself chasing finish scratches and other issues that I just couldn't spend anymore time redoing finishes. So I'm throwing in the towel for the time being. --db |

Thanks John, Steve and all Here is a link to a pis that shows the corners. Thew corners didn't come out quite as invisible as I would have liked, I guess that's the way it is with maple. The picture is too big to post on here. But look at it here Next time I try this I'll use ebony as the binding. |

Maple shows EVERYTHING and you did well! You are right about ebony binding. It hides everything. Looks like a tapered guitar to me or is that just camera angle. |

28.59? What an unusual number. WHy not 28.6? It's easier to remember. I doubt that I could hear or feel a difference of .01". Ahah! I think I get it. 28-19/32 = 28.59375 |
